Megan’s Stylish Chicago Winter Wedding

We had the joy of working with Megan last December on her incredibly beautiful wedding! We are always excited to see how our winter brides will style there weddings. They always end up being very unique and incredibly chic. This one is no exception! Megan started with a few key ideas for her theme, she said she wanted it to be” classic and wintry with a pop of gold.” A perfect place to start! Her personal bridal style was classic and vintage. Her bridesmaids wore beautiful black dresses that will never go out of style.

For her hair our bride wanted to also compliment her theme and her gorgeous dress by keeping her look classic and clean. She left the makeup inspiration entirely to Tamara..something we as makeup artists LOVE! Tamara airbrushed her foundation to keep it light and natural, Her lip was done in a subtle yet slightly pink MAC lipstick in Soar lipliner, and Pink Plaid and Angel Lipstick. The star of the show are those lashes! Tamara chose a medium length and full strip lash to really complete the look.

Having family in from out of town, keeping everyone close was extremely important to her. One of her favorite moments from the morning came when she got to see her Groom walking into St. Clement Church where the ceremony was being performed. The ladies all had the awesome experience of getting ready at a house the bride rented right across the street! This really made her morning feel cozy like being at home, especially for her out of town guests. We thought this was such a personal touch, and much more inviting then a hotel option.

To sum it up, our bride has this advice for brides to be:” Just sit back and enjoy it. I really loved the wedding planning process, but I had a good idea of what I wanted ahead of time. For me, it was picking a few theme items and letting everything revolve around that! ”
We couldn’t agree more!

Fall Bridal Bliss at Medinah Country Club

We are never shy to say we love weddings all through the year but we just can’t help but falling a little more in love with a gorgeous fall wedding! This wedding for our bride Courtney is a stunning example of why..
Our bride was referred to us courtesy of the wedding power duo Bill Brennan and Jim Verraros owners at Luxury Bridal Expo Chicago. She wore an incredible Monique Lhuillier dress with intricate lace detailing. Courtney wanted a clean Updo to compliment her dress. For makeup, she really left the details to her makeup artist Lauren, but had the vision of a subtle smokey eye. Overall wanting to keep the look very romantic. Her inspiration for her wedding was quite simple: to channel Cinderella for a day! Her bridal colors she chose were a lovely Navy, Light Blue and Gold. The reception was at the incredible Medinah Country Club. Perfectly fitting for our Cinderella bride! With a bridal party totaling 9 people one of Courtney’s favorite moments while getting hair and makeup done was the relaxed atmosphere and the “long coffee chats” between her and her friends. We love hearing that! In the end, her best piece of advice has to be one of our favorites as well, “Go with your gut & don’t hold back! It is your day, do what YOU want!”
Now that is our kind of bride! To create a dream wedding like Courtney’s we suggest using the following vendors:

New York style, Chicago Wedding

We adore out of state brides and this featured bride is a perfect example of why! Alyssa and Devon both live in Manhattan but wanted to return home for a stylish Chicago wedding. Alyssa “said yes to her dress” at the incredible Kleinfelds in New York City. She chose a gorgeous Madison James gown for her walk down the aisle. Alyssa insisted that her stylish inspiration for hair and makeup really came from the influence of her wedding venues and her gown. Which in our opinion she did perfectly!

The couple were married at St. Michaels in Old Town and had there reception at the grandiose and timeless Germania Place. She wanted her look to be classic with a modern twist. Darbie and Jody created exactly that for her wedding day!

Alyssa’s favorite part of her makeup was her eyes and lip color! Soft & smokey is a perfect description! Golds and browns were the perfect choice for giving Alyssa’s eye makeup just a little extra pop! Darbie combined a shimmery gold for the lid, with some matte browns on the outer corners. She also accompanied this look with a full pair of lashes. Darbie wanted the lashes to not be the focus, but more of a compliment.

As for hair, Alyssa has self admitted “stubbornly straight” hair that never holds a curl. Enter our lead stylist Jody..she was able to achieve perfect curls for a fun yet glamorous style that lasted all night long! Jody loves a challenge, so when Alyssa said her hair doesn’t hold a curl, it was game on for Jody! The outcome speaks for itself! Simply gorgeous! This updo is super trendy right now, lots of brides are requesting it. What Jody loves about this look is that its timeless.  Jody feels that every bride who wears this updo will look back and truly say there look was timeless!

In the end, Alyssa got her dream look to fit her dream wedding. We are so happy that Alyssa was referred to us by a former bride, we love our referrals! Alyssa is no exception, we absolutely adored working with her!

To recreate this stylish wedding with a modern twist we highly recommend Alyssa’s team of vendors:

Wedding Planner Turns Rockstar Bride

Tessi is a rockstar. Plan and simple. She has went through some tough times that hearing about almost brought us to tears at her bridal trial, but she is one tough lady!  She had an amazing wedding where she rocked a Hayley Paige wedding dress and a faux hawk! We met Tessi as a bridesmaid and we were super excited when she called us as a bride! She is an amazing aunt, great wedding planner, and wonderful client, who wouldn’t want to be her glam squad?!

Not only did she rock a faux hawk, but she also pulled off a golden smokey eye with some touches of copper in them! Tamara was her makeup artist and was loving the freedom that Tessi allowed on the day of her wedding.  Tessi pointed her in the direction she wanted to go and let Tamara do what she does best. Lindsey was Tessi’s hairstylist and she had an inspiration picture from Tessi that was an updo faux hawk. In our opinion Lindsey took that picture and made Tessi’s updo to the next level.

Tessi is an amazing wedding planner so as you can imagine all details were thought of on her wedding day, from super cute getting ready tank tops to her hubby’s amazing blue tuxedo! If you are in need of a wedding planner and are looking for outside the box, beyond creative, and a new friend, look no further then Tessi! Enjoy checking out more photos of her day of below~

Andrea’s City Chic Wedding feat. Lazaro

I love when brides come to me with a celebrity inspiration for the style they want to invoke in  there hair and makeup. Andrea came to us looking to the beautiful Ivanka Trump as her style inspiration for her wedding. I could not have been more excited! Ivanka always looks polished and perfect and knows how to look business professional but also how to turn up the glam in true Trump style. Andrea had every detail in order to create this look for herself. With her reception at  the sleek Trump Tower Chicago, and  the most gorgeous blush colored Lazaro gown,we had the task of polishing off this amazing look!

For hair, Andrea was not afraid of volume at all, and we loved it! She did want to keep her bangs down and to the side so she could still feel relatively comfortable. We loved this and always recommend it. If you are someone who always wears there bangs a very specific way day in and day changing it up for your wedding hair style may leave you feeling uncomfortable. So with that,  Melanie create used Andrea’s own clip in extensions to create a high-volume updo that still left her bangs down. The look was perfection. It had the volume needed to create an almost retro feel yet was smooth and sleek to compliment her modern wedding theme.

For makeup, we decided on a variation of a grey smokey eye. I used 2 pairs of false lashes to create the depth and thickness she wanted for her lashes. The look was glamorous yet not heavy. We airbrushed her skin to create a flawless finish. I used Anastasia Beverly Hills contouring palette to heavily contour and highlight her face. For her lip color not just one color would do. I mixed 4 different MAC shades of lipstick to create the perfect, pink lip that would compliment her beautiful dress color. MAC colors used were: Pink Plaid, Please Me, Angel and Snob. It was truly a pleasure working with Andrea. Her wedding we are happy to say came out beautifully. She even had a photo-op with Bulls player Derrick Rose! How cool is that!? Our brides are the best!
